W604 Water-based bentonite thickening Rheological Agent

1. Product Features

W series water-based bentonite thickening rheological agent is a kind of flaky silicate mineral with unique properties, which is mainly montmorillonite. It is introduced into the layered structure of natural silicate inorganic high molecular through the hydration method of polyhydroxy organic polymer structure. It is the most promising organic/inorganic composite polymer thickener at present, which can provide good rheology and thickening effect in water, and has the high efficiency and fluidity of organic thickener and the stability and suspension of inorganic thickener. The unique sheet structure can provide a stable rheological curve, and it can provide excellent storage stability and can-opening effect when applied to water-based coating formulations.

2. Characteristics and Application

Insoluble in water, but it can hydrate and swelling water to form colorless and transparent colloid  the rheological curve.At very low concentration, W604 also has excellent thixotropy and yield.

Main applications: architectural coatings, waterborne multicolor paints, waterborne color pastes, waterborne industrial paints, waterborne metallic paints, waterborne wood paints, finger painting paints, inks, pesticides, oil fields and other industrial fields, cosmetics, toothpaste and other daily chemical fields.

3. Addition method

①W604 is also an excellent thixotropic agent in organic solvents. The amount of solvent should be limited to or should not exceed the concentration：50% methyl alcohol, 30% ethyl alcohol , 30% isopropanol , 50% glycol.

②W604 needs to be mixed with the system or water under high shear force conditions. Usually,before other components are added. W604 is added into the system for high-speed dispersion or grinding, and then other components are  can be added. W604 was prepared into pregel and then added.

③If  softened water is used, its viscosity will gradually increase within 24 hours, while in hard water, its viscosity will increase very quickly, and warm water is more conducive to dispersion and thickening.

④Compared with pure water system, the viscosity of the system using water and solvent is higher. However, the more organic solvents, the lower the transparency and stability of the system. W604 pregel is used in both neutral and alkaline conditions. It has the best effect, and its PH value is between 5.5 and 13. It is not suitable for acidity system.

Addition amount generally 0.2-0.69% of the total system, and the actual amount depends on the system requirements.
